 Laboratory Studies of PNP 7

 1. HIV.

In experiments with the vapours of PNP 7, chronically HIV infected human T lymphocyte cells in whole human blood were exposed to a known concentration of PNP 7 vapours for one hour. These cells were centrifuged and washed and added to an uninfected Human T lymphocyte Leukaemia cell line. Control cell lines were run in conjunction with this experiment and the results represent duplicate samples. The control cells all showed infection after 24 hours of culture, that is giant cell formation (Syncytium Formation) was observed. This is a specific cytopathic effect resulting from HIV infection. In the cells exposed to the vapours of PNP 7, no cytopathic effects were observed at 24 hours. Experts in this field have stated that this effect is likely to be a direct effect on the cells rather than on HIV.

Recent research in the field has shown that volatile compounds destroy the viral coat of coated viruses like HIV. An example of this research is Planta Med. 61(1995) 237-241. The two different responses are consistent with our own research which indicates that at certain concentrations, these materials affect the way cells respond to infection and at higher concentrations they may directly affect the infectious species. In our research we have been able to boost these effects whilst reducing side effects.

A replication of these effects in the body would have significant benefits for a person living with HIV. Giant cell formation in the immune system generally occurs for around 50% of people living with HIV just prior to an AIDS defining event, involving infection. Cellular nutrients that have the potential to control both the formation of giant cells and alter the outcome of the likely infections offers such people a significant improvement in their quality of life.

2. Fungal Infections associated with a severely depleted Immune System.

Some of the ingredients used in PNP 7 have in independent studies been shown to be active against a number of AIDS related fungal infections including Candida albacans, C. tropicalis, C. krusei, Cryptococcus neoformans, C. rhodobenhani, Histoplasma capsulatum, Blastomyces dermatitidis, Trychophyton rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, Micosporum canis, M. gypseum and at least ten Aspergillus species including A. niger and A. fumigatus. This activity has been shown at a cellular level and directly on the infectious species. PEAK makes no claim about PNP 7 being active against any of these species other than the presence of the cellular nutrients in cells may help them to resist infection against a wide range of fungal infections. PNP 7 offers potential benefits as a first line of defence against fungi breathed into the lungs from the environment and potential systemic benefits for the chronically infected and or the persons living with drug resistant species(Based on laboratory studies, published data and a pilot study with people living with HIV)

3. Bacterial Infections associated with a severely depleted Immune System.

The most common AIDS defining bacterial event is Mycobacterium infection. Components of PNP 7 have shown good activity against mycobacterium Avium and against M. smegmata. (W.H.O. standard bacteria for testing anti TB drugs.) Mycobacteria are breathed into the lungs where they proliferate and spread throughout the body. PNP 7 offers excellent potential prophylaxis against these species by assisting cells to resist infection.

Components of PNP 7 have shown activity against a wide range of bacteria, some of which include the following, Clostridium perfringens, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. PEAK makes no claim about PNP 7 being active against any of these species other than the presence of the cellular nutrients in cells can help them to resist infection against a wide range of bacterial infections(Based on laboratory studies, published data and a pilot study with people living with HIV)

4. Viral Infections associated with a depleted Immune System.

As previously stated under the HIV section there are significant scientific findings which suggest that ingredients in PNP 7 are active in laboratory cultures against a wide variety of coated viruses producing highly significant reductions in viral titres. The outcome of the current scientific debate about the effects of co-infection on HIV virulence and the progression to AIDS is vitally important to all people living with HIV. Agents that can reduce the effects of other viruses on the immunocompromised person offer significant improvements to their quality of life. Components of PNP 7 have been shown to have activity against Herpes, influenza virus, vesicular stromatis virus, visna virus and Newcastle disease virus. Current research indicates that these components of PNP 7 are active against all coated DNA and RNA viruses. PNP 7 offers excellent potential benefits against HIV associated viruses. The benefits of using plant extracts with conventional drugs are being scientifically researched in the treatments of Herpes and CMV. Plant extracts significantly boost existing treatments both in the presence and absence of drug resistant species.

PEAK makes no claim about PNP 7being active against any of these species other than the presence of the cellular nutrients in cells can help them to resist infection against a wide range of viral infections(Based on laboratory studies, published data and a pilot study with people living with HIV)

5. Toxicity Studies of PNP 7

All the components of PNP 7 have been used as food herbs and spices for centuries. The breakdown of these components in the body is extremely well understood and government regulatory authorities have set levels, which are generally regarded as safe for all the components in PNP 7. The recommended levels are not exceeded when PNP 7 is used as directed. In studies on healthy humans, no alterations in blood cell chemistry or in liver function were observed(Based on blood testing by independent laboratory). Our chief researcher has used PNP 7 for over 12 months with no adverse effects. (References include data put out by RIFM and FDA.)

Current Research

PNP 7 is currently being tested on a diverse group of people living with HIV. The purpose of this research is to study the long-term health outcomes of these people. Issues being studied include viral load, time of progression to and type and nature of AIDS defining event, effects on persons with advanced AIDS, differences between men and women in their response to PNP 7 and the effects if any of PNP 7 on Kaposi Sarcoma. Other issues will be studied as data and participants become available. We will release results, as they become available. (This trial was suspended on ethical grounds when an acceptable number of antiviral drugs became available.)
