Cellular research at a molecular level has established that the immune system and the individual cell are capable of communicating with each other. This communication can be constructive or destructive depending on what is occurring in the body. In autoimmune diseases like Lupus (SLE), Muscular Dystrophy, Motor Neuron and Multiple Sclerosis (MS) these communication are generally destructive.

Living with autoimmune disease is characterized by periods of remission and advancement of the disease. Research has established that inappropriate fatty acid metabolism at a cellular level is a significant factor in the autoimmune diseases and that dysfunctional cellular fatty acid metabolism is associated with dysfunction of the immune system and advancement in the diseases. Like all abnormalities in bodily function it is not clear which abnormality is a cause or effect.

What is clear from Peak's research is that it is possible to alter immune response by restoring normal cellular metabolism of fatty acids. Although these immune diseases are as a result of different abnormalities it is clear that Peaks products have applications in improving the quality of life for people living with these diseases.
